Award-winning New York City illustrator and writer Molly Crabapple reveals the self-promotion techniques that have lead to her success. In this presentation, Molly will discuss how she blends blogging and e-mail marketing with more traditional methods to make a name for herself in a field already over saturated with talented competition.
Local animator and Cartoonist Bob Flynn will discuss how he uses his blog for both artistic advancement and self-fulfillment.

ABOUT MOLLY:
Molly’s list of illustration clients includes: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Playgirl, Hamptons Magazine, SF Weekly, $pread, Harper Collins and Casca Sun Publishing. She has also written for NY Press, Punk Planet and Coagula Arts Journal.
Her first book, “Dr. Sketchy’s Rainy Day Colouring Book” was published in December 2006 by Sepulculture Publishing; the book contains 68 of of her illustrations and is based on Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School a life-drawing program she co-founded in 2005. At Dr. Sketchy’s, artists draw burlesque dancers and compete in contests to win prizes (mostly booze). This cultural phenomenon has exploded out of Brooklyn, spawning ten locations around the globe (including England, Denmark and Australia). Dr. Sketchy’s has been mentioned on NBC and in the Village Voice and the New Yorker.
